Kiki noun. Definition: An assembly or meeting, especially one held for the specific purpose of gossiping or chit-chat. "Let's have a kiki!"

Had the pleasure of attending this lovely madam’s birthday party ☺ I don’t often go to kids parties as I don’t have any children of my own yet, so here’s what I thought!

Party theme:

Expectation: Cuteness everywhere!

Reality: Spot on! Amazing effort made by made by mummy of the birthday girl, with a Doc McStuffins theme and plenty of sweets and party bags!

Expectation: A few sandwiches here and there and a couple of Wotsits, you know the usual kids party stuff!

Reality: Omg. Did I smell Jerk Chicken? Full blown barbecue with the works for both grown ups and children  (the sandwiches etc. were still there for the kids) I am in heaven! Apparently there is no such thing as a party at this house without a shedload of Caribbean food!

Expectation: As one of the few non parents thought I’d be roped into helping run the party, which I don’t mind of course.

Reality: Did a bit of helping with the party bags, (was told off by a child as she wasn’t going home yet, how dare I give her a party bag so soon?! – Sorry, wasn’t aware of the rules…) However spotted the cutest baby ever and made him mine for the day. Babies are just too cute!

Expectation: you know, pass the parcel and all that jazz? Or is that too old-school….

Reality: bouncy castle! Too much fun! Of course we had to give it a try once all the kids were tired. A few joined us, no injuries were sustained I’m pleased to report…

Birthday cake and candles time:

Expectation: A joyful and jubilant “Happy Birthday To You” followed by blowing out of the candles and priceless photo memories of our darling children to look back at in years to come.

Reality: birthday girl decided she wanted to touch the candle mid-song, pictures taken of a sulky face and burnt finger. LOL.

Well that was a very fun birthday party and I’m so glad to have been invited to celebrate. Until next year, hopefully with no further burnt fingers!
