When it comes to girls clothing I have absolutely no idea, like, literally no idea. I walk into stores and I see leather mini skirts and crop tops for 6 year olds and I talk out loud to myself like a crazy old loon, cussing and wondering why someone would put their kid in an outfit like that, let alone design something like that?? Where’s the practicality? How could this little girl ride her BMX or pretend to be Cheetara from Thundercats? How can could she copy Salt n’ Pepa’s dance moves without flashing her underwear? Then I remember these clothes aren’t for the 6-year-old me. They’re not for my boys, so why do I care… stop talking to yourself. It’s not the 80’s, times have changed, but there are some brands that design for little girls, not little women.
Blu Moon Design “Blu Moon Design specialises in creating girls clothing and dresses. We all love to dress our little girls in something fun and unique, but still great for everyday wear! We strive for high quality children’s wear that will last.”.
Blu Moon Design is based in Michigan, USA, and design and make beautiful dresses for little girls. Think bold patterns, think pastels, think prints, there is certainly something for everyone. I love the way that Kristi – the owner, designer and creator – blends patterns, frills and bows and somehow produces lovely modern styles with a subtle hint of that 70’s nostalgia. Mixing pleated denim with bold colourful prints, her dresses are so fun, her creativeness can be seen through her entire range.
Blu Moon Design is yet another one of my fab Etsy finds! As I’ve said before on this very blog, I love it when I find a boutique that sells original pieces that aren’t mass-produced or found on your local high street. It screams originality and for that reason alone, I wanted to share this great little online store.
Dresses for the modern little girl who can run, play and party. Blu Moon Design have beautifully handcrafted pieces that would be suitable for everyday wear or a special occasion. As their website is still under construction, take a look at Kristi’s Etsy store. Details below.
