SWEET SWEET CITRUS SMOOTHIE

SWEET SWEET CITRUS SMOOTHIE

Sweet, sweet citrus. For the citrus loving (my mum does not enjoy lime so I can’t go overboard!) sweet fans – this one’s for you.

Smoothies are great for those who are always on the go – I make a healthy smoothie before my gym workouts. They are quick and easy to make – they take me no longer than five minutes in my Nutribullet. They give me the perfect amount of stable energy to work out without feeling weighed down with food.

Smoothies are also great for weight loss, and should be consumed alongside a balanced diet.

If you don’t have a Nutribullet a blender should work fine, but you may find that you need to blend longer to get a smooth consistency.

I have tried so many different variations of smoothies, including leafy green versions but find myself returning to this one.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Lime
  • 1 Lemon
  • 1 Orange
  • A handful of mint leaves
  • ½ Banana
  • ½ Mango
  • A flat spoonful of flaxseed, pumpkin seeds and goji berries
  • 1 teaspoon of Agave nectar

Blend and enjoy!

Lemon and lime benefits include improving digestion and bowel movements. They are also high in potassium and can lower blood pressure.

Oranges are great for your body as they are high in vitamin C – perfect for when you’re feeling under the weather.

Mint leaves are great for digestion and help to soothe your stomach.

Bananas are high in fiber and potassium and also aid with digestion. They are also good for thickening smoothies and giving a creamy consistency, which is a great milk alternative.

Mangos have been found to be high in antioxidants, which can protect against types of cancers!

Flaxseed, sunflower seeds and goji berries are an essential source of fatty acids, nutrients and vitamins, the perfect super food boost to your smoothie. You can grab a packet from Lidl for an amazing price, or Holland and Barrett but expect to pay a lot more!

Agave nectar – I use this as I like to sweeten my smoothies, and this is an alternative to sugar. You can find this in Tesco.

Let me know how your smoothies turn out! I’d also love to get some more recipes to add to my collection, so please share your healthy smoothie recipes in the comment section below!
